From the minister’s desk

To the Grace United Church community,

As we continue through this critical time of Social Distancing, it is important to stay connected to those who are part of your community. I have made a commitment to reach out to the congregation through these missives a few times each week. I may not always have significant news or something profound to say, but I see it as important to maintain lines of communication regularly.

By that same token, I invite you to reach out by email, Facebook or phone to contact me if you have questions, news or ideas or concerns you want to share. We are doing our best to respond to the various needs our community of faith might have, but we could easily overlook something or someone. So, please share.

It remains my intention for now to take time in the church office in the morning from Monday to Thursday. I am answering phones and responding to emails as needed.

I would also remind you that we are planning a Facebook Live worship service for Sunday morning at 10:30. If you wish to participate in that, proceed to Grace United Church’s Facebook page, the stream of that should be running by 10:30. It will include some time of scripture, prayer and reflection, as well as song. While I will be singing with Gail accompanying me, please feel free to sing along.

I will share a written copy of my reflection/sermon after the worship service for those who don’t take in the streamed service.

We will also continue to ring our church bell every day at noon as a signal for our daily prayer.

May we continue to find ways of being a community of compassion and love in a time of stress and anxiety. May we overcome our fear and serve and live with love and hope.

“We belong to one another.”
